Domestic Competitions are now the Community Competition
SPBA is updating the terminology used for our domestic competitions. Moving forward, our domestic programs will be referred to as the Community Competition.
Why the change?
Our domestic competitions are more than fixtures and ladders. They are the heartbeat of our association, where new players discover the game, teams develop week to week, volunteers and officials keep basketball thriving, and clubs, families and friends connect through sport.
The term “Community Competition” better represents that identity. It is clearer, more welcoming, and more aligned with the purpose of these competitions at SPBA. It also helps distinguish our community competitions from representative programs and external leagues, while keeping the focus on participation, development and enjoyment.
What is changing?
- Only the terminology and competition naming.
- You will begin to see the updated wording across registrations, fixtures and ladders, the website and social channels, venue signage and communications.
What is staying the same?
Everything about the competitions themselves remains unchanged, including:
- Venues and game nights
- Divisions, grading and scheduling
- Rules and game day operations
- Finals and awards
