Dear Members of Parliament, Councillors and Candidates,

I am a Victorian resident living in XXXXXX and am writing to you about the indoor sporting facility shortage crisis on the Mornington Peninsula, which has not seen any significant investment in over 20 years despite soaring participation numbers.

The upcoming Southern Peninsula Tournament for the fourth year in a row, has had to turn away a large amount of kids and families from the region due to lack of indoor sport facilities. This is estimated to be millions in lost economic investment for the region and prevents the participation of kids in physical activity.

Southern Peninsula Basketball are also at capacity for their local community competition and are forecasted to turn away hundreds of kids over the next 12 months. The region has recently gained election commitments from the Victorian Coalition through the work of candidates Sam Groth and Chris Crewther, however, other sides and levels are yet to outline any plan for the region’s indoor sporting growth on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Frankston region has been fortunate to receive commitments from Liberal through the work of Michael O’Reilly and Labor through the work of Paul Edbrooke.

I urge you to please place the indoor sport facility shortage crisis at the forefront of the agenda to protect the significant health, social and economic benefits sport brings to the region and wider Victorians.
