Future Sharks Program | Southern Peninsula Basketball Association

FutureSharks

Future Sharks is SPBA's entry pathway into representative basketball. It gives U10, U12 and U14 players a structured introduction to Sharks representative training and tournament play, built to develop fundamental skills, team concepts and game understanding in a positive, child-safe environment, and to prepare players for future selection into VJBL Sharks representative teams.

Eligibility & Selection

Future Sharks is an entry point to the Sharks pathway for players who want to develop their skills and compete at a higher level.

1

Who can try out

Any player currently in our Community Competitions and not participating in VJBL is eligible to try out. No previous representative experience is required. Athletes must be born between 2014 and 2019.

2

How selection works

Selection is at the discretion of the Head of Coaching & Pathways and the selection panel. Players are assessed on ability, attitude, coachability and development potential, not current performance alone.

3

An entry point, not a final step

Future Sharks is designed as a stepping stone into the Sharks representative pathway, preparing players for future selection into VJBL Sharks teams.

U12 / U14 Program

October to January. Trials run alongside VJBL existing player representative try-outs at Dromana Stadium.

Stage 1 — New Player Trials

For players who have not played VJBL or Sharks Academy before. Players unsuccessful for a VJBL team may also be offered selection into Future Sharks.
