Member Wellbeing Working Group
The Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA) is establishing a Member Wellbeing Working Group to build and enhance the wellbeing and culture at the Association.
This working group is being formed as part of our commitment to our members to provide opportunities for everyone, addressing areas such as child safe practices, promoting mental health and ensuring that everyone feels Southern Peninsula is a welcoming home for them.
To have documents outlining our procedures is not enough, we must ensure we build action plans and implement a proactive community in the wellbeing of not only our direct members but also their family and friends.
Initially, the working group will be focusing on:
-
- Child Safety
- Mental Health
- Inclusive Practices
SPBA General Manager, Ben White said “This working group will compliment the work the Peninsula Associations are doing together along with Peninsula Health in prioritising the wellbeing of not only our members, but the wider community. We know that sport in general achieves significant health outcomes which the Australian Sports Commission describe through the megatrends in the report The Future of Australian Sport. We also know basketball in its variety of participation options is the perfect sport to work towards driving positive outcomes.”
Another area of work SPBA is already progressing with is establishing and acting on our Reconciliation Action Plan through Reconciliation Australia through the work of the Board of Management and Staff.
Over the coming weeks and months, we are working towards establishing an action plan for each area which will be publicly available.
If you believe you could be of assistance or have expertise in any of these areas, please contact Ben White at gm@sthpen.com.au.
